25.10.09 – Golden Key New Member Reception & Dinner
So, turns out I’m a huge nerd. I got invited to join the Golden Key International Honour Society not long ago and attended the new member reception on Sunday. I wasn’t sure at first if membership fee was worth the $95 they were asking but my mum offered to pay it, so I guess there’s no harm in buying something to add to my resume. If anything, it’s an awesome stroke of the ego. Here’s hoping it turns out to be some sort of cool Stonecutters-type organisation
My parents, niece, David and his mum all came to watch me accept my certificate on stage. I guess it was a test run for my potentially upcoming graduation next year. My parents should now be prepared for the boredom and the overrated-ness that is attending a graduation ceremony!

Me accepting my certificate from the Vice Chancellor of my uni. This is a crappy print screen of the photographer’s online preview. I’m still not sure if this picture is worth forking out $15 for! Hmm.
And the highlight of the weekend! Dinner at Vinh Phat! Nothing to celebrate, really, but I guess it was an excuse for Mother Choi to go out and get that lobster she’s been wanting to eat for a while now. Thanks for dinner!
It was SO good. My mouth waters when I look back on these pics

Steamed oyster with shallots

Ginger and shallot lobster with noodles

Meaty goodness! yummmmm
17.10.09 – The Oaks
So we hit The Oaks last Saturday. I was stallowned. If there is anything I have learnt, it is not to have chilli hot pot the night before a ride. Rode all of it though, thank God! Except for the bit out of the gorge at the end… and some of the technical bits. But I always skip those parts, so ner.

Waiting for the train at Glenbrook station

Taking a well earned rest

David and I. I’m looking a little worse for wear here. Damn my stomach troubles! I was glad the majority of the hills were, over, though.

Derek and I emerging from the sweet, sweeeet single track. Hohhhh yeah!

David decked out in his new jersey! A true Yeti fan, hehe.
11.10.09
Bathurst was on so David had no issues with staying in bed to watch it. It doesn’t really tickle my fancy, in fact it drove me out of the house. It seems my weekends these days are not complete without a fix of nail polish so I seized the opportunity to run some polish errands like exchanging that bottle of CC Fast Woman that I doubled up on last week. I also dropped by the more local nail supply place that I recently discovered, just check it out. I’m glad to report that they are as competitive on prices and closer than the place I used to go to – a relief for me because the sales girl I used to have a relationship with at my previous source has left. I bought some new colours and a bottle of Seche Vite (I just had to see what the hype is all about! More to report in following posts) and scoped out what was on offer in terms of nail racks since the one I have now can no longer accommodate my collection.

OPI: Can you Tapas this? Yucatan if U want, Play ’til Midnight, Barefoot in Barcelona, Here Today Aragon Tomorrow
Yes, it would seem that nail polish is taking over my life at the moment. I can’t really deny this but I will blame the terrible weather as of late for skewing the balance of the content of my posts. I would have more riding pictures up if I could ride!!!
09.10.09 – Wagaya
Oops, no photos of the actual meal because once again, we were running late and starving! I did however, manage to get a pic of Jason and his lovely girly drink

Eyerollingly good! Aileen seems to be having a blast in the background as well
11.10.09 – Lazy Sunday
Not much to report this weekend, really. The weather was dreary and our plans to go for a ride were destroyed by the threat of rain. Perfect for pho, though, which is what we woke up to have for brunch… and then again for dinner
My mum’s pho totally kicks the shit out of the one that Pho An in Bankstown charges $12 for. I am at a loss as to why Asians (of all people) are willing to pay such an inflated price for something that can be found for less than $10 (and better tasting) elsewhere (Pho 76 at Green Valley, for example).

Mum’s home made pho. Tai (raw) and cooked beef off the bone.
05.10.09 – Procrastination
I had an essay due on Tuesday. As you would expect, a lot of my weekend was spent procrastinating. How you ask? Why, playing with this shiny new toy of course…

Nokia E75.
GRR!! Do you know how annoyed I am that there is a blasted diagram on the protective film? How silly must people be if Nokia feels the need to do this? I’m really only riled up about this because I’m one of those people that likes to leave this film on new gadgets. It would’ve been perfect, otherwise
I’ve been playing a mental game of chicken with the it, holding out until the annoyance sends me over the edge and has me tearing it off in a fit of oblivious rage. (Yes, I am a freak. The fact that I managed to keep the perfectly untainted film on my 6300 for over two years sort of says something! I will probably end up being one of those Asian mums who keep the plastic on their sofas).

Lo and behold! A slide out QWERTY keyboard and internet access! I have finally stepped into the 21st century!
This took a lot of getting used to. SO many menus. I think I am a very simple girl at heart. I was almost tempted to retreat to the familiarity of my mostly-trusty 6300.

New E75 vs Old 6300
I really liked my old phone and felt a twinge of guilt in abandoning it for something fancier. I swear, I could have used it until I died were it not for the new feature it had developed over the years which erased my text messages in front of my eyes as I was in the middle of typing them. It’s almost as if it was possessed by a ghost. That or it was still punishing me for dropping it down the toilet that one time. Oops. It’s OK though, I will be keeping it as a back up phone in the family which I guess isn’t total abandonment after all.

Do I or do I not have the best boyfriend in the world? David came around with some Red Rooster to make sure I hadn’t hung myself during the essay writing process.

Rooster Roll.
We’re absolutely crazy about these things right now. The bread is OH-SO soft and the mayo creamy with a subtle tang that makes all the difference. Mmm…
