It’s cold and gloomy in Sydney today which is very uncharacteristic of the season we’re in at the moment. I’ve said it before and I will say it again – our weather has definitely gotten whackier over the years – especially since it was almost double the degrees Celsius only a few days ago on Thursday. Of course, it doesn’t surprise me that winter-like weather has settled itself in and made itself comfotable just in time for the Labour Day long weekend.
But enough whinging, I didn’t start this post to bore you with a spiel about the weather, instead I had the intention of sharing some photos from that peculiar day a week and a half ago when Sydney was engulfed in that dust storm. Talking about the weather was just my way of easing into it and breaking the ice
23.09.09 – Hazy Day Post-Dust-Storm
I opened my eyes momentarily this particular morning to find a bright orange glow that had made its way into my room but wearily ignored it and went back to sleep. I think my logic was that surely by now, it was an appropriate enough hour for a passer by to notice and call the fire brigade if indeed, my neighbour’s hedge was on fire again. Fortunately this is not what actually happened but I did wish I did wake up to take a few photos of the dust storm we had apparently been caught up in. I only managed to get a few shots of the aftermath. Definitely not as spectacular as the photos that have popped up everywhere else but out of the ordinary for me nonetheless.
Hazy outside
Car covered in a film of orange dust
Dust on zee road. Must’ve gotten blown and deposited under a car.
Dusty bench. I hope the person who sat on it wasn’t wearing black pants!
Dusty footpath
I thought I had gotten away with it because my car was in the garage but was surprised to find that it too,was sporting a new colour. The dust even made its way onto my car’s dash. Boo.
