Check out this lady beetle I found hanging out in front of my house last week! I wonder why they are called what they are called because this one came across as being a boy. Probably because he was orange (which is very cool!) and not your usual red or yellow. He was also bigger than most other lady beetles I’ve seen.

Living life on the edge!

He was pretty friendly and was happy to crawl around on my hand without flying away.
And yes, the nail colour was purely coincidental! Excuse the chip, this paint job was over a week old!

Chilling out amongst the leaves
I first fell in love with this idea after seeing it on AllLacqeredUp and knew I had to give it a try. Unfortunately, I am very lazy and didn’t find myself bothering to do it properly, i.e. by actually mixing polishes to get the authentic gradation in colour. Instead I opted to apply a selection of individual colours that I already had at my disposal. As a result, the manicure was more subtle than I would have liked. Sadly, no one noticed unless I pointed it out but that’s ok, I loved it! It was fun to do and so was the idea. One day, I will do it properly.

The colours I used. All OPI.
Kennebunk-Port; Miami Beet; No Spain, No Gain; Overexposed in South Beach; Lourve Me, Lourve Me Not

The result! I loved it!

Hooray! I’m making progress and am slowly catching up with my NOTD posts! I’ve had these photos stashed on my PC for about a week now.
17.10.09 – The Oaks
So we hit The Oaks last Saturday. I was stallowned. If there is anything I have learnt, it is not to have chilli hot pot the night before a ride. Rode all of it though, thank God! Except for the bit out of the gorge at the end… and some of the technical bits. But I always skip those parts, so ner.

Waiting for the train at Glenbrook station

Taking a well earned rest

David and I. I’m looking a little worse for wear here. Damn my stomach troubles! I was glad the majority of the hills were, over, though.

Derek and I emerging from the sweet, sweeeet single track. Hohhhh yeah!

David decked out in his new jersey! A true Yeti fan, hehe.
16.10.09 – Chilli Hot Pot!
We tried to get into the Night Noodle Markets which are currently being held as a part of the Sydney International Food Festival but were greeted with a massive queue at the entrance. This was unfortunate because we were hungry and just did not want to wait. We made out way over to have chilli hot pot instead.
As for the photos, I had my compact camera on me this night and I’m still not very good at taking pictures with it. Bear with me, I’m just not used to not being able to manually adjust my settings!

The ordering form

The soup. Chicken on the left and red hot chilli on the right

The food we would then cook in the soup

The fun begins! Yes, I’m concentrating hard. Paul is excited to have the beef strips that look like bacon in his hands. These beef slices were then referred to as “the bacon” for the rest of the evening.

Check out David’s blue swimmer crab! This was had for $10 and was reported to be very sweet. It was also conveniently chopped up into quarters. I didn’t have any because I was too lazy to get my hands dirty.

Some more hot pot action and noodles in the background! We had the “L.K rice noodles” on the left and “handmade noodles” on the right

Paul looking somewhat bewildered. I think the fumes from the chilli soup were getting to him

Here’s one from a few weeks ago. David got really close to selling his car and we thought it was going to go to a new home that weekend. To commemorate it, I thought I would break out one of the oranges I haven’t yet worn. I was going to wait until Halloween to do the whole pumpkin fingers thing so it’s good that David chose this one. (In my Back Pocket remains unscathed and virginal. My plan to debut it on my fingers on October 31st this year remains intact. Pun unintended.)
Anyway, I really liked this polish. It’s a translucent-ish orange with loads of shimmer. While it looks really pigmented in the bottle, my VNL was still visible after three coats (you can see it in my picture). This was my only gripe with it, but I guess the shimmer wouldn’t stand out as much if it were any more opaque. I suppose I could just apply more coats if I really wanted to.
Oh, and as for the car, David ended up keeping it. But that’s OK, I had a chance to wear a really funky colour and get complimented on it too
