Most people don’t look forward to their dental appointments, especially if they have anything to do with wisdom teeth. For me, however, it is a different story in which dental appointments equate to an opportunity to have lunch with my favourite snail and to hit the big city and its stores during the day. Working and going to uni out in the west means I hardly get a chance to visit shops during the week when they are actually open!
It was one such occasion yesterday when I had to chance to pick up some of these babies! Oh, the irony of looking forward to dental appointments so that I can obtain delicacies that probably just give me more cavities.

What’s in the bag?

Why, it’s a box! Wonder what’s inside this?

Macarons! No, sorry.. Lindt Delices!
As if little French pastries weren’t wanky enough in themselves, Lindt had to bestow upon them an even wankier alias

Clockwise from top left: pistachio, champagne, milk chocolate (partial), hazelnut (partial), peach and vanilla

The slightly broken ones were only so because I had been swinging them around in their carry bag for over 10 hours after I bought them (I’m surprised and glad they held up so well). This also explains why the bag is so worn at the handle holes. Oops!
Since having my curiosity piqued by Nghi’s rants about the ones she had in Singapore, macarons have become a full blown obsession of mine. When given the chance, I instinctively hoard them like I will never get to eat them again. A bad habit because I’m sure they’re not very good for my teeth or for my chances against diabetes. I’ve read that apparently I ain’t tasted nothin’ yet because macarons in Australia are still worlds behind in calibre in comparison to their Parisian counterparts but hey, I have little choice until I can finally afford to go there. I must say, the fact that I only know of 4 places that have them in Sydney probably adds to their allure for me.
